TNC APPLICATION PROJECT
For this application as Product Design Intern, I chose two topics from TNC's published conservation articles and created postcards as well as an informational fact sheet.
I selected the Independence Lake Project as a topic because I grew up adventuring the beautiful Sierra Nevada region, and have experienced the peace and serenity of Independence Lake firsthand. Now that my parents live in the area, I have been lucky enough to visit often and experience the natural beauty TNC has worked so hard to save. It was a joy to create artwork that reflected the colors of that experienced wilderness and tie in researched messaging for the conservation process and guidelines.

I chose the birdsong article that TNC featured on its New Zealand stories site because I wanted to showcase the experiences I have had for the past few months while on a work holiday visa in New Zealand. As I have traveled in this beautiful country, I have been in awe of the wild variety of these native birds, as well as the Department of Conservation’s efforts in the removal of invasive species for the birds’ (and other native species’) protection. I wanted to find a topic that evoked hope and progress, while also spreading awareness for a current issue. I thank TNC for providing the motivation and inspiration to create these pieces.
